Why Bill Gates?

This collection -- most of it anyway -- started out humbly thumb-tacked on my cube wall at work as the main exhibit of my real-world "website" where I posted cool photos and images torn from various magazines. Before the MS Anti-trust Trial, pictures of Bill weren't that easy to come by, and photojournalists seemed to have a knack for publishing the worst ones they could find. By the time of the trial, I already had five or six amusing pictures of Bill. Then the trial hit the media and the floodgates opened!

For the record, I neither idolize Bill nor demonize him. He's the Geek-Supreme who showed all those jocks--and more power to him. Maybe he's a conceited selfish brat, and maybe he's a misunderstood visionary. Whatever the case, you have to agree that he's a global icon of tech business, the software industry, entrepreneurism... and the Geek Poster Child.

About copyrights: I believe that you should never steal anyone else's work, so I would never use any of these images for financial or other gain. Giving credit where credit is due -- and I know this won't cover all of the 55 photos on this site: thank you to the following newspapers and magazines:

  • The Standard
  • Wired
  • Red Herring
  • Internet Weekly
  • The Oregonian
  • Newsweek

Finally, I want to say that I didn't collect these photos or put them on my site out of any disrespect to Bill or his family.
